How do I Install a Water Pump on a 1994 Mercedes Benz S320
1. Open the hood of your Mercedes. Support the hood with the hood stand. Locate the battery terminal. Loosen the bolt on the negative terminal with an adjustable wrench. Lift the cable from the negative terminal.
2. Move the drain pan underneath the radiator. Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator. Remove the plug and drain the coolant into the drain pan.
3. Loosen the bolt on the accessory drive belt tensioner with the nut driver. This will loosen the accessory drive belt around the engine. Lift the drive belt from the vehicle. Remove the mounting bolts on the back of the fan and lift it from the vehicle.
4. Remove the clamp attached to the lower radiator hose. Move the hose out of position and disconnect it from the water pump. Remove the mounting bolts from the damaged water pump and lift it out of the vehicle.
5. Attach a new O-ring and gasket to the water pump. Fix the pump in place with the mounting bolts to a torque of 18 pound-feet. Insert the lower radiator hose into the water pump and fix it in place with the clamp. Fix the fan back into place with the mounting bolts. Place the accessory drive belt back onto the drive belt tensioner and secure it in place by tightening the nut on the tensioner with a nut driver.
6. Unscrew the radiator cap and place coolant in the radiator. Reattach the battery cable and turn on the engine to check that the water pump works correctly.
